To acknowledge Reconciliation Week in late May, PhD Candidate and indigenous knowledge keeper Shannon Foster, hosted a ‘yarn session’ at the SOPA offices.
This was the first time the day had been acknowledged by the Sydney Olympic Park Authority and was a great opportunity for SOPA employees and several members of the business community to gain a better understanding of our indigenous past.
Shannon’s story of her family, her historical insights and local knowledge was fascinating to hear. Not to mention the special ‘bush tucker’ treats prepared for us to sample.
Shannon will be hosting a variety of activities during NAIDOC week 10 – 14 July, including a Yarn at the Park and a Mangrove Walkabout Yarn. Further details on the dates and times will be notified in the coming weeks.
Stay tuned!
