The Sydney Olympic Park Athletic Centre has officially unveiled its newly upgraded athletics track, following a $2.7 million investment by the NSW Government to enhance the venue’s facilities for athletes at all levels.
This was part of a major $5 million investment with the athletics track upgrade introducing a world-class gel-layer surface, alongside improved accessibility features designed to better support para-athletes and refreshed field event infrastructure. The enhancements will help the venue continue to host a wide range of events, from school carnivals and community competitions to elite championships.
The new track was officially opened hosting the NSW Junior Championships and marking a major milestone for the venue.
This was followed by the highly successful Australian Athletics Championships earlier in April which saw many Athletes achieve personal best times and many records achieved.
The upgraded facility reinforces Sydney Olympic Park’s position as a leading destination for sport and community events, supporting athletes from grassroots participation through to high-performance competition.
