Last Sunday heralded the start of Legacy Week for 2017. One of the first official events held by Legacy was the “Legacy Australia Kokoda Challenge 2017” media event held at Gallipoli Barracks Enoggera QLD.
The event was hosted by Major General Stuart Smith AO, DSC and Mr Tony Ralph – Chairman of Legacy Australia.
At the event Tony Ralph thanked the ADF, QinetiQ, Australian Financial Services and Thales for their support. Tony further thanked and acknowledged Thales’s long standing commitment to Legacy. Tony further stated that Legacy is engaged in a joint mentoring initiative with the Australian Defence Force which will see a group of 23 Legacy youth, accompanied by 17 serving ADF veterans, trek the Kokoda Trail to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Kokoda Campaign
41 trekkers (Legacy youth and ADF personnel) and 21 corporate trekkers (QinetiQ Australia) deploy from Brisbane at 1040 hrs on Monday 28AUG17, the same day in which Legacy Week will be officially launched by His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) at the Australian War Memorial, Canberra.
