Sydney Showground claimed victory in the Banqueting & Catering category at the Meeting & Events Australia (MEA) state awards, with recognition for successfully delivering 294 events during the qualifying period, in 2016.
These events included premium international and national conferences, large-scale exhibitions, gala dinners for up to 4,000 guests, numerous business functions and cocktail parties.
In addition, the team at Sydney Showground was recognised for catering achievements at the Sydney Royal Easter Show, where it manages 23 venues, a kitchen brigade of 85 staff and a front-of-house team of 300 people who deliver over 10,000 meals at numerous outlets and functions during the 14 days of the Show.
Peter Thorpe, General Manager of Sydney Showground, said he was delighted the team has been recognised with this prestigious industry award.
