A surge in registrations at Sydney Olympic Park Sports Centre’s gymnastics club, now numbering over 1,000 members across a variety of physical movement programs, has resulted in recognition from Gymnastics NSW at the awards night on Saturday 4 February.
The 1000+ member award caps off an extremely successful year for the Club, which also achieved outstanding results at State and National competitions. The Sports Acrobatics teams medalled at the 2016 NSW State Championships with three medals in total; a gold, silver and bronze. Individual medals were awarded at both the women’s and men’s Artistic Gymnastics State Championships with the women bringing home nine gold and one silver medals and the men winning three gold, one silver and three bronze medals.
The club has experienced excellent growth across all programs, in particular Kindergym and Recreational Classes. 2017 has seen a new program emerge, GymAbility, which specifically targets special needs groups.
The sports venues at Sydney Olympic Park, including the Sports Centre, provide a diverse range of programs targetted at developing skills, getting people active and improving the health and wellbeing of the community.
