Sydney Showground’s Andrew Roberts and Danielle Hoare, from the Sydney Olympic Park Authority, attended the Greater China Showcase 2017 in Chengdu, China from 19 to 21 April 2017.
The Business Events Australia Greater China Showcase is Tourism Australia’s signature showcase event for the Chinese market, designed to deliver access to buyers, provide insights into market trends and for industry to gain market intelligence during the three-day program.
Andrew Roberts (Sydney Showground, Head of Sales) and Danielle Hoare (Sydney Olympic Park, Executive Manager Business Events) attended the conference with the aim of generating new business opportunities for Sydney Olympic Park and taking advantage of the opportunity for Australian industry representatives to strengthen relationships with key agents, corporate buyers and media, whilst showcasing Australia’s most outstanding business events products to the Chinese market.
Agents and corporate hosted buyers enjoyed full days of meetings followed by networking drinks at the end of each day, showcasing Australia’s food and wine.
In 2016, more than 90 per cent of Australian industry who participated in the Business Events Showcase commented that their return on investment directly post the show was “good” to “excellent”. China is Australia’s most valuable inbound visitor market, with the potential to be worth $13 billion by 2020.
