Quaycentre has won eps australia Best Achievement in Venue Management for the 2018 Invictus Games.
With an expansive and wide-reaching group of stakeholders, planning by Venue Management at Quaycentre commenced two years prior and continued up to the Games period by hosting over 35 preview visits from sponsors, contractors, Organising Committee and Board members; Media and marketing organisations, Security, Transport and Emergency Services as well as Invictus Games officials, administrators, staff and volunteers. The venue also hosted a preliminary visit by the patron of the Invictus Games, HRH Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry in June 2017 along with other Organising Committee and IG board members and VIP’s.
Quaycentre hosted the sports of indoor rowing; seated volleyball; wheelchair rugby and wheelchair basketball transitioning the venue three times to host four sports and 14 sessions, with a spectator capacity of 3600 each session over 6 days.
The venue also hosted the outdoor media compound and converted a modern day international hockey pitch into an international Archery range.
