Parramatta is set to come alive this winter as the city prepares to host the inaugural Parramatta Half Marathon on Sunday, 21 June, welcoming up to 8,000 runners for a landmark new addition to Sydney’s sporting calendar.
The 21.1-kilometre course has been designed to showcase the very best of Parramatta, beginning on O’Connell Street before winding through the iconic Parramatta Park, the CBD, Parramatta Square and along the scenic river foreshore.
In a standout feature for the event, runners will cross the finish line inside CommBank Stadium- making it the only race in Sydney to conclude within a stadium and marking the first time a running event has taken over the venue.
Beyond the race itself, the event promises a vibrant atmosphere for spectators, with live entertainment and multiple vantage points across the course for friends, families and the wider community to get involved and cheer on participants.
City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Martin Zaiter said the city is ready to shine on the day, with the event expected to bring energy, activity and visitors into the heart of Parramatta.
With thousands of runners already registered and strong interest continuing to build, the Parramatta Half Marathon is shaping up to be a major highlight on the city’s events calendar, celebrating community, fitness and the evolving identity of Sydney’s second CBD.
