In 2020 we celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. The anniversary exhibition acknowledges the athletes and volunteers at those Games and honours the inspiring achievements of the champions who came before and after that momentous time.
Over 140 athletes on the NSW Hall of Champions Roll of Honour have competed at Summer and Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games since 1900, winning over 100 gold medals, 50 silver and 60 bronze medals for their country.
The exhibition includes Australia’s first Olympic gold medal, won in 1900 by swimmer Freddie Lane and the skis used by Zali Steggall to win bronze at the Nagano 1998 Winter Olympic Games. There are some fun and quirky Sydney 2000 memorabilia, and life-sized models of mascots Syd, Millie and Olly.
