The NSW Champions of Sport Ceremony, was held on the 27 November, with almost 750 guests in attendance to witness the induction of five athletes to the NSW Hall of Champions, and the announcement of the 2018 NSW Sports Awards winners.
The NSW sporting family came together to honour the state’s best athletes, teams, coaches and officials and celebrate as two-time paddling Olympian Jessica Fox and double paratriathlon World Cup event winner Lauren Parker were named as NSW Athlete of the Year and Athlete of the Year with a Disability.

Congratulations to Catherine Cox (Netball) , Julie Dolan AM (Football), Jana Pittman (Athletics), Melanie Roche (Softball) and Mark Skaife OAM (Motor Sport) on their induction to the NSW Hall of Champions.
These incredible athletes take their place in the hall at Quaycentre in Sydney Olympic Park , amongst greats such as Don Bradman, Dawn Fraser, Ian Thorpe and Ken Rosewall.
In a special presentation by the Minister for Sport, The Hon. Stuart Ayres MP, Netball legend Liz Ellis AO was presented with The Waratah, which recognises outstanding long-term contribution to sport in NSW beyond the sporting field and beyond any single year.
The Waratah was first presented in 2017 and acknowledges a career of extraordinary success and commitment to sport.
A surprised Ellis accepted the award to the delight of the large crowd and joined MC Tracey Holmes for an insight into her career, her family support and continued advocacy for women and girls in sport.
