The Sydney Olympic Park Business Association and the Western Sydney Business Chamber hosted a special webinar with the Minister for Planning and Public Spaces, The Hon. Rob Stokes MP. Minister Stokes is the NSW Minister with portfolio responsibility for Sydney Olympic Park following the machinery of government changes last year. Sam Romaniuk, CEO of Sydney Olympic Park Authority and NSW Place Management joined the Minister in the webinar.
Over an hour on Thursday 16 April, Minister Stokes and Mr Romaniuk joined many Olympic Park stakeholders to talk about the response to COVID-19 and the Park’s longer term future.
In response to webinar participants’ questions they outlined the priorities that they will be pursuing to support businesses and jobs during COVID-19 and prepare for the recovery phrase. Mr Romaniuk commented on the activities that SOPA are doing to rebuild visitation to SOP post-COVID.
The Minister spoke about the recent changes in governance and the need to change from a precinct-focus to a place-based focus on integrated uses going forward. The Minster reaffirmed the Government’s support for ANZ Stadium redevelopment as “iron cast” and highlighted the opportunity that Sydney Metro West would provide the Park.
