The Royal Agricultural Society of NSW (RASNSW) has announced the appointment of Mr John Bennett OAM to the role of President.
The successor to Mr Michael Millner, Mr Bennett has worked across the agriculture and event sectors for over thirty years and has demonstrated outstanding leadership as a trustee of the Royal Agricultural Society of the Commonwealth, President of the Nowra Show Society and through his involvement with RAS’ partner, AgShows NSW (ASC).
Within the RAS, Mr Bennett has also devoted his time as an RAS of NSW Board member, Ringmaster (2015 – 2021), and held leadership roles across various Committees including Horse, Agricultural Development, Competition Support Taskforce, Entertainment and as Chair of the Bicentenary Committee which helped the RAS celebrate 200 years in 2022.
As President, Mr Bennett will help drive the RAS through its next chapter, supporting the organisation as it expands its integral work in agricultural education, develops its award-winning event venue business, Sydney Showground, supports regional and rural communities via the RAS Foundation and continues its mission to promote Australian agriculture through the annual Sydney Royal Easter Show.
The RAS of NSW Board, Council, Members and Staff thank Mr Millner for his incredible leadership and welcome Mr Bennett as the new President of the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW.
The RAS will also welcome Dr Sam Walker as its new Treasurer and wish him all the best on this much deserved appointment. Dr Walker has previously fulfilled roles on the RAS Board, Veterinary, Domestic Animal, Wine, Disciplinary and Audit Committees and his broad understanding of the organisation will be valuable as he takes on his new role.
