Sydney Olympic Park continues to set the benchmark for sustainable events, with ENGIE Stadium becoming the first major venue in Australia to serve beer, wine and spirits exclusively in reusable cups.
From 7 March 2026, all beverages at ENGIE Stadium events will be poured into 100% reusable polypropylene cups, marking a significant step forward in reducing single-use plastics across large-scale sporting and entertainment venues. The initiative is being delivered by Sydney Showground in partnership with reuse system provider WOSUP.
The move builds on Sydney Showground’s earlier transition to reusable beer cups in 2019 and ongoing collaboration with WOSUP since 2024, which has already prevented more than 2,200 single-use cups from going to landfill per event. Expanding the system to include wine and spirits is expected to divert thousands more disposable cups annually while improving the overall guest experience.
The rollout comes at a busy time for the precinct, with reusable systems set to be in place during major upcoming events including the GWS Giants season and the Sydney Royal Easter Show. Additional draught beer outlets will also be introduced to support increased visitor demand.
Beyond reusable cups, Sydney Showground continues to strengthen its sustainability credentials. Between 2024 and 2025, the venue recycled more than 404,000 containers through the Return and Earn initiative, delivering significant energy savings and carbon emission reductions.
