Australians’ level of ‘extreme concern’ about COVID-19 has fallen to 47%, down 28% from its peak of 75% five weeks ago, but they still support a measured response that ensures a safe re-start for the economy.
Newgate Research’s latest survey of 1569 Australians taken between Monday and Wednesday last week indicates Australians closely link getting the virus under control with better prospects for the economy. 55% now believe the economy will get better in a year, compared with a low of 31% seven weeks ago when this survey started.
As the National Cabinet met last week to further develop Australia’s exit strategy, there is continued community support for the governments’ response and its efforts to start easing some restrictions.
