Hockey in New South Wales was established in the early 1900's with both the men’s and women’s associations dating back 1906 and 1908 respectively.
November 2004 saw the amalgamation of the NSW Hockey Association and NSW Women’s Hockey Association to form a single entity of hockey administration in New South Wales, namely Hockey NSW.
Today, around 30000 members participate in organised hockey competitions across the state. With 61 affiliated associations, Hockey NSW can lay claim to being the largest hockey playing state or territory in Australia.This large membership base has contributed to an enviable record at Australian Championships in both forms of the game; field and indoor.
Coupled with a high representation in Australian teams which dates back over 80 years, Hockey NSW is proud of the history and traditions that have been created over a 100 year period.
Hockey New South Wales Limited is a young and developing sports organisation, hosting over 20 state championships each year and a number of national and international events.
Hockey NSW work hard to deliver quality coaching, officiating, high performance and development programs and pathways for its members and to lift the profile of the game across the state.
